The brief
Following successful delivery of a presentation skills programme Morgan Advanced Materials, the world leader in design and manufacturing of innovative materials solutions, asked us to develop their graduate training programme.
Morgan wanted to ensure that their graduates were given the best possible start to their careers and were well equipped with management and leadership skills.
The solution
A two year programme
Incorporating the following modules: Leading Innovation and Change, Becoming an Effective Leader, Developing and Leading Teams, Presentation Skills and Project Management Skills.
Coaching
The graduates were given support throughout the programme with voluntary individual coaching sessions which they could use however they wish. They also had unlimited access to support from our trainers via email, skype or telephone.
Line Manager training
It was important to ensure the graduates’ development and support followed through seamlessly in to their day to day work life so we involved their line managers too. We provided training to ensure visibility of what the graduates were learning and how the managers could best add to their development further in the work place. This strengthened the graduates learning through increased traction and cohesion.
Mentor training
The delegates were also part of a mentoring programme to further support them in their career development. We trained the senior members of staff they were paired with in mentoring skills.
Qualification
The programme also incorporated ILM Level 5 requirements and assignments meaning the graduates gained an industry recognised management and leadership qualification at the end of the two years.
The results
We started delivery of our fourth graduate programme in 2015.
Morgan Advanced Materials were national runner-up for investing in skills at the 2014 EEF future manufacturing awards where the judges were “impressed with this structured programme that was delivered across multiple levels of the business with significant results for all.”
